Dr Nadeem Ahmad Afzal MBBS MRCP MRCPCH MD
Dr Nadeem Ahmad Afzal is a Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust, UK. Paediatric gastrointestinal services in Southampton accepts referrals from 11 regional hospitals from the South of England. He leads the paediatric endoscopy services offering a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures to babies and children in Hampshire.
Dr Afzal received specialist training in paediatric gastroenterology, nutrition, intestinal allergy and hepatology in Great Ormond Street, Barts and the London, Royal Free and Kings College Hospitals. His doctorate thesis at Queen Mary University of London, was on studying the role of nutrition in paediatric inflammatory bowel diseases. He serves as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at The School of Medicine, Southampton where he has an active research programme in the University.
Dr Afzal serves as National secretary of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology & Nutrition. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and is on the editorial boards of several medical journals including the Word Journal of Gastroenterology and Scientifica. He is an elect member of the European Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel diseases, Porto Group (ESPGHAN). He has reviewed and edited the paediatric GI guidelines published on Paediatric Care Online, a new online decision support tool for Healthcare professoinals in the UK, by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Music. Played in a med school 'soft rock' band, and still occasionally play for charity events and like to assesmble my own Fender Custom and Fender (Strat and Tele) Clones. My next challenge continues to be to get a 'Gibson' sound out of a 'Strat'
Photography. I am interested in design, composition and colours. I have a Nikon Df with a host of lenses. With recent mobile industry developments I find the camera on the iPhone 6s quite amazing.
