My current Research activities

I am currently working on these projects

PAEDIATRIC EOSINOPHILIC OESOPHAGITIS - THE 'STRING' TEST IN CHILDREN - Working with Immunology colleagues at the university I am keen to find non invasive methods to monitor Eosinophilic Oesophagitis in children. We are the paediatric southampton Eosinophilic diseases group and offer 'string test' to children with EoE which can tell us about eosinophils in the oesophagus without children needing an endoscope or anaesthetic.

PAEDIATRIC INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE - I have recently completed a European multi centre study on use of adjunct treatments to enhance current treatments. The initial results were presented at the ESPGHAN meeting in Glasgow in 2019. We are planning to publish our results this year. I continue to work on many other joint projects with colleagues from Europe Israel & Canada.

GASTRIC EMPTYING STUDIES IN CHILDREN WITH RESISTANT GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE - My student has been awarded first student prize by the British Nuclear Medicine Society and she will be presenting her paper at the annual meeting in 2020

DEVELOPING PAEDIATRIC INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE GUIDELINES FOR LOW INCOME COUNTRIES - I am currently working on a subject very close to my heart, developing guidelines for management of inflamamtory bowel disease in low resourced countries, when access to expensive treatments is not possible. This work is being done with European colleagues in the Porto IBD group (ESPGHAN)
